Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data SFL handles and why. Contact for any privacy question: info@skydivingfatalitylist.org

Who is responsible

SFL is run as an independent, non-commercial project. The site administrator is responsible for the data described here and can be reached at the address above.

Records of fatalities

Records describe accidents using information that has already been made public by media, federations, drop zones, official bodies or community-compiled lists. Names of the people who died are kept internally, only to check facts and avoid duplicate records, and are not published unless family or close friends request it. Family members can ask for a record to be corrected, anonymised further or removed via the report form or by email.

When you send a report or correction

The report form asks for your name and email address so we can reply and ask follow-up questions. It also records the IP address the report was sent from, to help us deal with spam and abuse. Your report is sent to the site administrator by email and stored in the site’s database. We use it only to create or correct records. Your name, email and IP address are never published. We delete form submissions once they have been dealt with, and at the latest after 24 months. You can ask us at any time to see or delete what you sent.

Spam protection

Form submissions are checked for spam on our own server. No third-party anti-spam service receives your data.

Server logs and hosting

Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) in server logs for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify visitors.

Website statistics (Google Analytics)

If you click Accept in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and records people read, so we can improve the list. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (_ga and _ga_<ID>, kept for up to 2 years) and collects a random identifier, the pages you view, how you reached the site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (city or country). Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address. We do not use this data for advertising and never combine it with names or report form submissions. Google may process the data in the United States; Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Detailed data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our account, at the latest after 14 months.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you click Reject, or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent deletes the Analytics cookies in your browser.

Cookies

The site uses only the cookies it needs to work, plus one cookie (sfl_consent, kept for 12 months) that remembers your choice in the cookie banner. Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept. Apart from Google Analytics after your consent, the site does not load fonts, scripts or tracking from Google or other third parties.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data about you, object to its use, or complain to your data protection authority (in Poland: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl). Write to the address above and we will reply within one month.
