Landing – unintentional low turn

A turn made low without the aim of swooping – to avoid an obstacle, to face into the wind or to reach the landing area after misjudging height. A canopy that turns near the ground dives and loses height quickly; landing straight ahead, even downwind, is almost always safer. SFL has recorded 3 fatalities in this category since 2022.

Newest first. Records are compiled from public sources and many are still being verified.
