Landing – intentional low turn
A high-performance turn started too close to the ground, usually to build speed for a swoop. The canopy is still diving when it reaches the ground. Over the last twenty years this has been one of the most common causes of skydiving deaths among experienced jumpers, often on small, highly loaded canopies. SFL has recorded 24 fatalities in this category since 2022.
Newest first. Records are compiled from public sources and many are still being verified.
